The Bible was written in mainly two languages, Hebrew and Greek along with some Arabic. According to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Christian Mission Organization, Wycliffe.org, there are more than 7,000 languages in the world. Among them, almost 700 languages have the complete translated Bible and more than 1,500 languages have access to the New Testament and some portions of Scripture in their language. All Christian brothers and sisters should be thankful for those who put their time and energy, we call it life, into these amazingly important works for the Kingdom of God.

In the translation of the verses of the Bible, I often find alive and deeper meanings from the descriptions of currently active power and movement engaging into our today's life. One of them, I found this morning, is in John 7:38:

"Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water."

John explains "Living water" means the living Holy Spirit (John 7:39). Ok, let us think about the word 'living.' 'Living' means pretty much similar to 'life' in meaning, but 'living' has a form of a noun with an adjective meaning. The English translation from Greek in the New Testament is good here to understand.

Greek:

ὁ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμέ, καθὼς εἶπεν ἡ γραφή, ποταμοὶ ἐκ τῆς κοιλίας αὐτοῦ ῥεύσουσιν ὕδατος ζῶντος.

(Kurt Aland et al., The Greek New Testament)

English Translation:

and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, 'Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.'

(NRSV)

The term 'Life' delivers a status of human condition objectifying and collecting bits of daily emotions and activities, but the term 'living' which comes from the Greek word, ζῶντος is present, active and participle verb, meaning that is a vivid live moving condition. This verse means the Holy Spirit is alive and giving life continually to us. This verse touches our present relationship with God. The Bible says, "Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water." Jesus who is in the center of our heart fills our heart and body with the Holy Spirit continually and forever. How thankful it is! Oh, Lord, you are in me! I am in you! Amen.
